Sunday, Feb 3, 2007...first of 100 Reef Balls that have been constructed by Reef Ball New Zealand (Dave Head) were deployed.
The site is a channel out from an intertidal platform [approx] 150metres, its protected by an almost fuly emerged reef and is about 3 metres down, so it can be checked by snorkel. The local Maori picked the site for a demo for the elders to see what RB is all about before starting the main project - an ocean reef in about 10 to 14 metre depths with a native reserve status.
